Sourdough is believed to be one of the world's oldest types of dough. It is said that the Egyptians used sourdough to make their flatbread more airy more than 4000 years ago.
Supplemented with yeast, 30g sourdough powder is suitable for a loaf baked with 500g rye flour, and 15g sourdough powder for a wheat bread baked with 500g flour.
Sourdough powder does not work without yeast, as the powder only helps to give the bread the dark and sour taste.
