The name ZECHSAL is a combination of "Zechstein" and "sal." Zechstein refers to a geological period approximately 250 million years ago, when a vast inland sea—the Zechstein Sea—covered large parts of Northern Europe.

Over the centuries, this sea gradually dried up, much like the Dead Sea today, leaving behind a rich layer of minerals, including pure magnesium chloride. This valuable magnesium salt forms the foundation of Zechsal and is still used in our products today.

The second part of our name, "sal," means "salt" in Latin. It also alludes to the word "salary," as salt was once so valuable that people were paid with it. This underscores just how valuable and unique our ancient magnesium salt truly is.
