Meybona dark 85% organic chocolate is made in Germany, in a chocolate factory where they have been making all their chocolate from scratch since 1923. This means that they buy quality cocoa beans and roast them and produce their own cocoa mass. By roasting and processing the cocoa beans themselves, they can ensure that their products have the best flavor notes. Once the beans are roasted, they are rolled into cocoa mass and then conched for between 24 and 48 hours, it is in this process that the very unusual characteristic cocoa aroma and taste is ensured.
Meybona was founded by Emil Meyerkamp and his wife Luise in 1923, where the factory is still located today.
Today, Meybona is still at the original location and produces according to the old traditional process from cocoa beans to finished chocolate (BEAN TO BAR).
They focus on top quality and this means, among other things, that they do not need to add soy lecithin to their products or vegetable oils such as palm oil.
The majority of cocoa beans come from the Dominican Republic. The milk chocolates are produced from whole milk powder from Germany. The vanilla in the organic chocolates is organic Bourbon vanilla.

Meybona has also won the prestigious DLG award for 10 years in a row. This German award is given to companies that are considered to have worked continuously with their product quality in the food industry.
